The founder

Mukund Agarwal

Every strong player was once a beginner who was given a board and someone's time. Million Minds exists to give that to a million more people.
FIDE MasterAge 17India

Mukund Agarwal, a FIDE Master, wants more people to experience chess as a way to learn, connect and enjoy a thoughtful challenge. His current school work is the starting point for a wider community initiative.

The journey

From the board to the classroom

Million Minds began with sessions Mukund ran himself, at homes, in residential societies and in schools, sitting across the board from beginners, families and neighbours. He teaches in a familiar local language so that children can follow and take part from the first lesson.

What comes next

Growing beyond one teacher's hours

The next step is a network of trained coaches and research partners, so Million Minds can reach more communities and its results can be measured rather than assumed. Future programs for older adults and other communities will be developed with suitable partners.
